The DC area got it’s first big blast of winter the other night just in time for the evening rush. It took people many, many hours longer than usual to get home and I heard even the President got stuck for an hour in traffic. From the newly renovated roof of the Hay Adams Hotel I could see the crazy gridlock up and down the city’s streets. Despite the madness below, and the anxiety that I would have to drive through this mess myself shortly, it was hard not to be affected by the simple beauty of it all.
